LED is fast becoming the technology of choice for equipment manufacturers, as they hold many benefits over bulb based lights. However, not all LED’s are the same, knowing what to look for in a light will help you make the right decision on which to choose when updating your lighting solution.
Theoretical Lumen; as with all things theoretical, it is an explanation of a perfect world. In other words the maximum performance you could get out of the LED light projection if nothing else impacted it, such as optics, reflectors or heat.
Effective Lumen; once the light has reached its operating temperature, we then measure the Lumen output in Effective Lumen. This is the most reliable and honest rating and is taken once the light has been operating for two hours.
What should you consider when looking at LED lighting?
Check the effective lumen values, if these are not listed in the supplier’s information; be aware that the light may not give the output stated
Halogen lights have a lower price tag and they do provide a reasonable level of light. Their downfall is the bulb; once blown you are forced to stop working to replace it, and this then impacts on revenue and productivity. On average, a halogen light can be replaced twice year*.
Although the initial cost is higher, LED’s offer reduced energy use, which decreases running costs and helps prevent downtime and loss in revenues. Expenditure for LED Worklights are repaid, on average within 24 months.

LED’s draw less power than Halogen’s reducing the strain on your machine battery. This ensures more power is available for other applications such as GPS, onboard computers or more lighting to the area around your machine, all, in most cases, without increasing the capacity of your alternator.
Fuel saving is also a benefit – with lower energy draw, fuel consumption is reduced and so are costs.
3. REDUCED MAINTENANCE
Working in environments that are hard on machines, such as mining, construction or forestry, you rely on your equipment being built to withstand the punishing regime and you want a light to match this.
With no filament or moving parts and lasting for up to 40,000 hours*, LED’s have a life term to match that of your machine; meaning maintenance is reduced along with machine downtime due to lighting repairs.

4. DESIGN FLEXIBILITY
Since the design capabilities are more flexible; LED lighting can be placed in compact and restrictive areas for better illumination. TYRI work with equipment manufacturers to design solutions that not only deliver on light and quality but also on aesthetical appearance.
LED’s use solid-state construction so there are no breakable bulbs, fragile filaments or sensitive electrodes like those in halogen or HID lighting. This means LED’s are the ideal choice for vehicle applications where rough terrain would cause traditional work lights to fail.

7. ECO FRIENDLY

8. REDUCED EYE FATIGUE
LED work lights, designed by TYRI, typically emit a light with 5700°K colour temperature. This is near the colour spectrum of the mid-day sun, and so allows the human eye to function and view objects better.
9. WARMING UP TIME
LED’s reach operating temperature much quicker than traditional filament bulbs and so are more efficient. They also operate at a much lower temperature than halogen so safety is increased.

WHY CHOOSE TYRI?
1. POWER SUPPLY
Most of TYRI’s lights are either single volt 12/ 24V or Multi volt. These are ultra-efficient and generally draw less power consumption than most competitive products. This allows:

2. LIGHT OUTPUT

3. LED PROTECTION
TYRI lights have built in temperature sensing circuits which reduce the voltage output to regulate the temperature of the light. This prevents damage to the LED’s that can result in premature failure. TYRI LED lights are also reverse polarity protected in the event of incorrect installation.
4. SEALED UNITS & IP69K
Off highway machines will often need to be cleaned with high pressure water hoses, and in some cases even steam, to sanitise the equipment. This is why TYRI ensures our complete lighting is awarded with IP69K approvals. So they are waterproof, dust proof and eliminate the risk of humidity or condensation build-up.
TYRI products feature internal optics which prevents the eye from being directly exposed to a LED light source. Optics also provides a more homogenous light pattern.
6. LENS & OPTICS
TYRI refers to measurements in effective light output and can provide Candelas and Lux values. While bulbs radiate light over 360 degrees, LED’s provide a much narrower light beam and need to be complemented with specifically designed optics, lens and in some cases reflectors. Without these key components, LED lighting will generally show some ‘black spots’, uneven light-spread and narrow light beam, not ideal for general lighting.
Low cost LED lamp manufacturers usually compete in terms of the raw and theoretical light output of the LED used in their lamps. Lumens values are of little interest for general lighting as they only give an indication of light intensity at the very source and not take into account the benefits provided by the lens, optics or reflector.
